I Started A Girls Gaming Night And It’s More Fun Than I Could Have Ever Imagined

Recently I began hosting a girls game night where we have been playing Overwatch. We mostly focus on having fun, getting to know each other and just laugh after a long day’s work :)

Even though it was my idea to start up girls game night I never imagined what it would truly mean to me. I’ve always wanted a lot of friends who play a lot of different video games that I could join in to play with or just to have people who I can talk to about them all. So these past few weeks as I began my journey into the unknown by creating a games night for girls I was really introduced into something really wonderful.

When I decided to create a fun little group for girl gamers to help strengthen our community and allow us to have our own small support network with each other I didn’t expect to make as many friends as I have in such a short amount of time. Our first two weeks were a MASSIVE success, everyone was laughing and having fun which is what it should all be about!

Considering the future for more girl game nights I started wondering what this could mean for the gaming community and how it could help others. Someday I hope it grows so well that it will be something people will continue even if I’m not around. Like a reminder that girl gamers should look out for each other instead of breaking each other down, as a matter of fact, every girl should stand up for the other.

I want girls game night to be a place others can help inspire newer generations, help them fall in love with video games and just create a community of supportive and lovely people. It has really warmed my heart to see that so far I have been so lucky that all of the gamers who have joined and supported me have really risen up to the task and made the feel of game night so fun and relaxing! Each and every one of you are amazing so thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me begin this adventure of creating something amazing!

After all, girls game night is about having fun with friends and creating a positive environment for new and old comers and it really wouldn’t be possible without your support!

This Wednesday we had our 3rd week of game night, which I think was again a massive success! We made it a Girls VS Guys deathmatch and it was a lot of fun! We all laughed, won games, lost games, died a lot, and made jokes! I even managed to get player of the game by basically just spectating. That is what I want girls night to be! It should be a safe haven for us all after a long hard day of hard work.

I think over time and with a lot of hard work, it could really be something great and enjoyable for girls of all ages. A time and a place for girls who would just like to have fun, meet new people within the gaming community and make friends.

Why did I pick Overwatch as the game to be played? Probably because it is one of my favorite online games at the moment and I’m really having fun with it. I’ve met a bunch of really cool and interesting people through it. Through Overwatch and the people that have joined me in playing it I have seriously started laughing more! My mom could hear me laugh from her room and I think that really made her feel joyful and happy for my sake.

As the weeks and months go by we may try and experiment with other types of games and eventually we might occasionally stream our games and upload highlights as well (something I’m looking into right now since a few people have asked for streams, however I might need help since I know nothing about streaming). But for now we’re happy to just keep doing what we’re doing :)

So if you are a girl gamer or know of someone that would like to join a fun girls night send them along and join us! It’s all about caring and strengthening our space in the gaming community! We can’t wait to see you there :)

Lots of Love
