Lovers’ Quality Game Time
I was recently inspired by this article when a friend of mine told me that his girlfriend was coming to visit him and that she is not really a gamer. For just a bit more unrelated context, they are in a long-distance relationship, but they are hoping to change that soon.
Knowing how challenging long-distance can be, I was wondering what kind of games a non-gamer and a gamer would end up playing together so that both parties would enjoy this as a fun activity to do together.
Let’s jump right into it, shall we?
Nothing says “I love you” more than a serial killer chasing you down a narrow path, trying to get their hook into you, especially if you teach a new game to your non-gamer girl.
“Dead By Daylight” allows you to create a custom game and teach your beloved how to survive if a killer is hunting you or shows you the ropes on how to be the best possible killer by chasing the love of your life and ensuring they won’t escape. Or if you feel like being dramatic, both of you can hop onto the survivor role and try to survive a blood-hungry killer who desires nothing but to stop your happy-ever-after escape.
A couple’s game and a game you can enjoy with friends. See how your focus shifts from laughing and taunting the killer to dead silence while you hide to the best of your ability… alone or together.
Next up, we have “It Takes Two,” a story about a married couple on the verge of divorce.
After sharing the news with their daughter, Rose, the couple is magically transformed/teleported into two of Rose’s dolls. All because she asked her magical book of love for help, as she strongly believes that love is work and they can fix their relationship, (strong feelings for a little girl).
With worldwide positive reviews, this story promises adventure, hope, puzzles, and challenges like no other video game BEFORE.
Test your partner with a game that focuses on teamwork and greatly relies on the other person to help one another through challenging obstacles, both mentally and emotionally.
Sailing the seven seas in “Sea of Thieves” can be both challenging and rewarding for you and your partner, especially when trapped on a small sloop.
Whether you enjoy digging up treasures, fighting monsters, or sailing away with loot, there is never a dull moment in and on the waters. If you do not enjoy the hustle and bustle of being a pirate, fighting off other players or skeletons, you can low-key enjoy the beautiful sunsets the game has to offer, all while drinking a nice cold drink with your beloved.
“Don’t Starve Together” is another brutal addition to the list. This is just my personal opinion, but the game is challenging and frustrating if you don’t work together with friends or partners. I like to call it the unforgiving game, probably making it sound rather dramatic, but if one person was slacking, the other person(s) will feel the aftereffects.
The game is all about focusing on everyone’s survival and working together to make sure you have a nice meal, a bed to sleep in, and someone fighting off monsters. While I have not yet completed “Don’t Starve Together” due to the amount of frustration it causes me, I highly recommend playing the game with someone. There is just something funny about someone else’s frustration along with yours.
Video games, in general, are fun—just ask any gamer. However, gaming with someone makes the experience 100 times better. There is someone to share stories with, someone you can talk to for hours about a game’s ending and how it made you feel.
Someone to share the excitement with, and spending quality time with a partner while engaging in a shared activity like video gaming can deepen the bond and create everlasting memories.
So as mentioned at the start of the article, this was all about playing video games with a loved one… so what are we waiting for, grab your partner and GO GAME!
I hope you consider picking up one of these games and giving it a try. If you perhaps have any other suggestions, let the couples know below.
Lots of Love
