Romance is in the air this Valentines Weekend
It’s that time of the year again where everyone is scattering to find last-minute gifts for their significant other… Yes, I’m talking about the day we cannot name… Alright, Valentine’s Day.
I’ve compiled a list of romance anime you can watch with your partner over the weekend where you both cuddle up, eat some good food, and just relax the time away with each other.
Ao Haru Ride
The story follows Futaba Yoshioka, a girl who pretends not to be feminine so she is less of a target for other girls in her school. Living her life this way has resulted in her feeling incomplete and like her life is less exciting than others, unable to be her true self in front of her friends.
Things start to change when her first crush starts attending her school, however, it’s not all as it seems as the boy now standing in front of her is not the person she once knew. He is cold and detached from the world, with very little focus and will for anything, this is definitely not the same Kou she once loved.
This is a tragic romance story where it falls upon the two individuals to truly fight for each other and save one another. It is definitely worth watching and will inspire compassion within yourself and inspire you to do better within your own relationship.
Kimi Ni Todoke
Imagine going through your school life being compared to the girl from the horror film “The Ring” in both appearances and having almost similar names. This was the case for Sawako whose classmates have avoided her because they believe if you look into her eyes, they would be cursed and that Sawako brings bad luck to the people around her. It all gets worse when she can’t freely speak her mind and is often misunderstood! However, Sawako is kind-hearted and lives her life through a motto she made for herself and that is to do one good thing a day. Her school life changes drastically when she befriends Shota who is outgoing and very beloved by others in the school, especially the girls.
These two unlikely individuals form a unique friendship with each other, and as they grow closer, Sawako starts experiencing new things for the first time.
She is able to make new friends, clear up understandings and go through school as a normal high school student.
Your Lie In April
The following anime is not to be taken lightly as it will break your heart into so many pieces and then slowly start rebuilding it through the characters and their struggles. The story follows Kosei, a piano prodigy who has made a name for himself at a very young age. His life was thrown upside down with the death of his mother, the person who was responsible for his passion and love for music. With her passing he soon loses all hope and starts drifting into a dark colorless world, not playing the piano for over two years.
This all changes, when he meets the free-spirited Kaori Miyazono whose skills as a violinist inspire him to get back into music and playing the piano. Not only that, as their friendship grows through music so does his love for her.
After a performance Kaori collapses and is hospitalized, she says it’s nothing and that she just needs to go for more check-ups, however, not all is as it seems…
I really HIGHLY recommend that you go and watch this anime but be warned that it will pull at your heartstrings from the very beginning to the very end.
Say I Love You
This is your typical hot guy falling for the quiet, reserved girl kind of love story. However, I really loved it and have probably watched it 4 times already because I mean who would not want the hottest guy in school falling for them.
The story follows Mei, a distant, emotionless girl who believes having friends is bad due to her previous experience with friends telling a lie and she had to take the blame for it. Yamato’s first encounter with the ice queen herself was when his friend tries to tug her skirt while walking up the stairs. Mei’s reaction is full-on aggression and tries to kick the boy, however, her kick missed her intended target and she ended up pushing Yamato back leaving him to fall to the floor. Startled by her reaction he instantly says she is interesting and unlike any other girl he’s ever met and soon starts pursuing her.
They say opposites attract and that is definitely the case in this love story!
Nothing beats sitting on the couch watching anime with your loved one and what better way to spend Valentine’s weekend of 2020 on the couch, popcorn ready and just being close to the one you love.
Lots of Love
