Comic-Con Africa – A year to remember
With less than two weeks away from one of the biggest gaming events in South Africa, fans are eagerly waiting in anticipation for the 4-day event.
It’s been 2 years more or less since our last Comic-Con Africa event and this is a welcomed return where geeks and nerds gather in one place to celebrate everything game culture.
Looking back at my first Con event (yes my first, 2019), I have incredibly high hopes and desires for this year’s Comin Con event.
Most notably from my first event, a much bigger space since last time would be great. A space where we can all move freely and hopefully not bump into anyone or the fear that you might break or damage someone’s cosplay when being pushed into someone.
From the briefing we have a few days back, the developers/ creators have heard your pleas… bigger is better and so we will be getting our bigger-than-ever Comic Con Africa event.
So sorry gamers… your dream of being stepped on by the likes of Wonder woman, Sailor Moon, or (if only) Garrus Valerian has now just become so much smaller.
Considering Covid still glaring at us from a distance. Space is not a bad thing, and with that beings said, be respectful and keep your distance.
While I’m on that note, please be reminded that cosplay is not consent.
So fast forward a bit to after our Streamercon briefing, I can tell you that the excitement from the people behind the scene is bigger than ever and it helps fuel the passion of the creators they are bringing on board.
What I like about StreamerCon is that they are actually giving smaller content creators the limelight.
Yes, there are big names thrown into the mix, and I cannot explain how excited I was to just be in a voice call with some of them. But to allow smaller creators the time to shine is something to really look forward to. Not only does it help the individuals show them their skills but in all honestly, it helps the newcomers learn from the event and hopefully come back stronger next year.
With all the excitement surrounding the event and friends messaging and asking if we are meeting up for Comic-Con or if I secured tickets already, I never expected to get asked to join and partake in StreamerCon at Comic-Con Africa this year.
The initial idea was to only go and witness the event and see what unfolds at Con, take the information home, and then write about it in my little hideout.
It’s rather strange being invited to the first ever Vtuber panel and looking at the other 3 panelists who I’ll be joining, I am in awe of how I got so lucky to be joining them. These 3 uprising vtubers are bright and ambitious, ready to give it everything they have.
Joining me on the panel are three very unique and gifted vtubers, each with their own skills and talents, and enjoyably bringing new never-before-seen contact to the ZA streaming community.
I am excited to be joining:
Kaizo Pengu – The penguin who escaped the cartoon world to get a glips of reality and play some video games… okay a lot of video games.
I never expected to laugh so much at a talking penguin, nor did I expect to see a penguin addicted to Redbull… hey, maybe Kaizo can put in a good word for me *wink-wink – I like watermelon*
Gamagachi – An android frog mech pilot, who sleeps during the day and works very hard at night. Her talent knows no end, as she is not only gifted with drawing and animation, but she has some really impressive skills, in playing video games with her feet…Someone I call a friend and a great inspiration on who I want to be like.
Gmaxyoda – Your not-so-average video game fanatic, love of all things gaming, movies, and anime. His streams are comfy and relaxed, focused on community, creating wholesome content, and changing the world by creating a safe space for others.
Quick… does anyone know a joke about a penguin, a frog and a human?
And as you may know, I graduated this year in July, after I got doxxed as a Vtuber, nothing too serious as I keep mentioning but I needed to take some safety measures to ensure I was safe and everyone I interacted with.
However, I am excited to still be part of this wonderful opportunity and to share the news with the cubs… for a 4-day event, I am coming out of retirement to join some wonderful content creators this year.
There is so much I want to share but to keep you all hyped, the only thing I can say right now is to GET YOUR TICKETS!!
So many things to see and I strongly feel that 4 days are just not going to be enough to unbox everything the event has for us… that or I need to clone myself just to see everything.
It’s only going to get better each year, and with this being one of the first geek culture events after covid, it’s going to be a blast!
Now I think the only question which remains is… “Will I see you there?”
Lots of Love
Love what I do?

I know you all will knock them off their socks! I unfortunately cannot make it to the event but I hope you all have a wonderful time there :3
