The Ultimate 2019 Gamers Christmas Wishlist
It’s that time of the year again where everyone is planning and rushing to get their Christmas wish lists out so that Santa can know what all the good boys and girls want for Christmas. So if you’re finding yourself in this tricky situation and desperately trying to figure out what to get the gamer in your life then don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! With it being Black Friday there’s plenty of deals going around to help make your life easier (and more importantly, keep your bank account slightly fuller), so be sure to hunt around and find the deals that really give you the most bang for your buck.
So without further ado here is my roundup of some of the best ideas to get your favorite gamer this festive season!
1. Gift Cards
Steam is running great specials at the moment with game discounts going up to 80%. So if you have a game on your wish-list and you would really like to have someone get it for you, NOW is the time to tell them. And if you are looking to get a gamer a few games as a Christmas present now is the time to get it, because you might miss this great special ending really soon. Aside from Steam you can also find gift cards for other gaming platforms or gaming merch stores.
2. Funko pop
All gamers LOVE Funko Pops. They’re cool and adorable, and they’re a really easy way to own a piece of a game that you love. By now the gamer in your life has probably mentioned what kind of games they love, so it will be easy to see if there’s a Funko Pop for that game. Right now there are well over 6000 kinds of Funko Pop so there is a really good chance the character exists somewhere!! If you’re unsure of where to start, check them out online at funko.com or get to your nearest gaming store now. These figures are fun, collectible and will look great on the shelf of any gamer.
3. Gaming mouse
If your loved one clicks their mouse as fiercely as I do while playing games then they probably need a new one. So why not make it one with extra buttons and shiny lights? Trying to become a better gamer and having a hard time hitting all the buttons can be rather frustrating. Getting a mouse with extra buttons will help improve the process of gaming by making it easier for you with less movement around the keyboard. As for those lights I mentioned earlier? Well… they won’t make you a better gamer but they definitely make you feel cooler!!
4. Subscription/ game time cards
Some games and gaming platforms (like Final Fantasy XIV, World of Warcraft, Xbox Live and Playstation Network to name a few) have a subscription so that players can get online to play. Buying these will give your favorite player that much needed extra game time and will help them save up a bit of cash in the process. How much you want to gift them is up to you, but trust me when I say that they’ll love you all the more for it!
5. Headsets
For any gamer who plays with friends online an online gaming headset is an absolute must!! It’s ultra important they can communicate with their team while surrounding an enemy base, coordinating plans of attack, or simply just to have a fun relaxed chat in between games. Gaming headsets are great for cancelling out sound when you like listening to the game’s story or the music too! Finding a good headset with great audio quality is priority number one, but you also need to consider what kind of microphone is attached to it as you need to remember that’s how your friends are going to hear you. You can’t have a microphone that gives off a lot of static!! I can’t give many recommendations here as I’ll save that for another blog post in the future, but just know that you can search online and find plenty of other amazing places for reviews on headsets :)
6. Gaming keyboard
Earlier in the list I wrote about gaming mice, so it’s only natural that their other half makes it to the list too! When it comes to choosing a gaming keyboard it almost feels like swimming in an ocean of choice. Seriously there’s so many out there! The most basic thing you need to know is that a gaming keyboard is designed to withstand the absolute craziness that comes with competitive gaming. These things can take a beating! Look for a keyboard with reviews that say about how easy it is to push the buttons and that there are no issues with accidentally having a double input and you’ll be onto a winner!
7. Gaming merchandise
One of the greatest things you can offer a gamer is their favorite video game merchandise, ranging from character models, artwork and clothing, you’re sure to find something that is related to a game that they love. Every gamer loves a great warm game hoodie. Take a look at websites like Etsy, Amazon and Takealot to see what kind of hidden gems they have!
8. Gaming convention tickets/ live gaming event
This year I went to my first gaming convention and I can tell you that it was the EXPERIENCE of a lifetime. It may sound weird at first but this kind of gift really just keeps on giving. At conventions like these you really get to feel like a part of a community, there’s so much happening and you can try your hand at competitive level games, see so many different kinds of merch, and really have a tangible experience as a gamer. So, if your loved one (or even you!) loves games, and the culture surrounding them then you absolutely have to buy them the experience of a lifetime, it is something any gamer will remember for years to come!
